The latest Report Runner Monitor & Debugger 2030.200 release is a major performance and reliability update to our free Report Runner add-on utility, with several new features based directly on customer requests.
One of the biggest additions is Group Managed Service Account (gMSA) support for mass Windows Task Scheduler credential updates. Simply enter the gMSA account—with the $ at the end—and leave the password blank. Windows handles retrieving the managed password automatically through Active Directory.
Better Monitoring and Troubleshooting
We’ve made it easier to understand exactly what’s happening on a Report Runner machine.
You can now hover over any job meter to see its Process ID (PID). Since Report Runner Batch and Viewer also include the PID in their log files and filenames, it’s much easier to connect a running process with the exact log file you need.
Log analysis is clearer, too. A new “Log Unreadable” result tells you when a log exists but can’t be accessed—usually because of permissions or network availability. CPU meters now explicitly show “Blocked” or “Error” when they can’t provide a valid reading, rather than displaying a misleading percentage.
A Lot Faster Behind the Scenes
A significant amount of work went into performance.
Process information is now collected and cached in the background. Log analysis reads only the portion of each log it actually needs, and filtering cached results no longer requires rereading every log file. The result is a much smoother and more responsive interface, even when monitoring the maximum 20 processes.
We’ve also improved Windows Task Scheduler analysis, made mass credential updates run in the background with live progress, and changed the analysis tabs so they automatically rescan logs whenever you return to them.
More Reliable, Too
Several less-visible problems have also been fixed, including CPU meters getting stuck at 100%, Monitor interfering with active log files, the application remaining hidden in Task Manager while closing, and a rare case where a password could appear unmasked in Process Analysis.
Mass credential updates are also more resilient. One bad scheduled task will no longer stop the entire update. Each task is handled independently, with a summary showing exactly how many succeeded or failed.
