The latest Report Runner Batch & Viewer update (2030.970/975) brings important stability fixes, smarter token renewals, and a few refinements to keep things running smoothly.
Batch: Smarter Recovery & Licensing Fixes
- Licensing Fix: Resolved an issue with Event Server licensing to ensure smoother activation and renewals.
- Hardware Crash Fix: A rare issue where hardware temporarily became unavailable (triggering “device attached to the system is not functioning”) has been fixed—particularly helpful for AWS and virtual environments.
- Token Renewal Improvements: Instead of locking individual tokens, the system now uses a global renewal lock, making the process more efficient.
- Auto-Fix for Corrupt Parameter Files: If a .PAR file is corrupted, Batch will now attempt an automatic repair, reducing manual intervention.
- Small but Mighty Tweaks:
- PAR file colors in the Job Edit window are now clearer.
- Retry pauses now max out at 10 seconds instead of 7, allowing for slightly more resilience.
- Updated log file messages for better debugging.
- Twitter logo updated to X—because, well, things change.
Viewer: Better DSN Handling & User Safeguards
- Fixed a DSN Lookup Bug: A blank DSN value was halting report processing—this has been resolved.
- New DSN Bypass Setting (Undocumented): If DSN-related issues occur, Support now has an optional INI setting to bypass restrictive DSN checks and keep reports running.
- Override Safeguard: If users select “Override DSN” or “Override Database”, the system will now require a valid value—preventing accidental blank overrides.
- Token Renewal & Log Updates: Like Batch, Viewer now locks tokens globally during renewal and includes better logging messages.
- Twitter Logo → X Logo: Just keeping up with the times.
A Smoother Experience Overall
From licensing to logging, from smarter DSN handling to better auto-recovery, this update makes Report Runner more resilient, more efficient, and more user-friendly.
